Stitching the Sacred: Islamic Geometric Embroidery Workshop

Explore the practice and philosophy of sacred and Islamic geometry, forms rooted in spiritual traditions and reflected throughout the natural world. Using thread and simple geometric frameworks, you’ll create a patterned work on paper through a slow, meditative process that emphasizes rhythm and attention over perfection.

Blueprinting the Divine: Cyanotype Workshop

4 hours

Discover the cyanotype process through demo’s that include coating paper with light-sensitive chemicals and hands-on activities using stencils and found plants. We will bridge the gap between the patterns of Islamic geometry and the observable patterns in nature, exploring how Islamic geometric patterns serve as abstractions of natural forms. This workshop will draw parallels between structured geometry and the organic beauty of the natural world while creating your own unique blue-hued artworks. Using sunlight for exposure connects our artistic process with the rhythms of the natural environment, highlighting our interaction with and inspiration from the world around us.
